Haidt's talk is an extension of the fascinating paper WEIRD-est people in the world. It's a very honest inference and the most needed call to pacify the current contentious environment. We can use more Jonathan Haidt's in every other discipline. But yet his theories wouldn't work unless we have an answer to the this question - where are the Jonathan Haidt's from the other side?
He is natural peace maker which is forcing him reason towards more bipartisan world (and it's not the other way around) but there cannot be peace (if that's the right term) with just one side coming to the middle. Even if they do, it will feed the confirmation bias of other side; namely being progressive = pusillanimous . The irony is people (read "cable news") are probably using his studies to sway and polarize more people. Bottom-line, Haidt has started a great debate and both sides should start an intellectually honest conversation.
