Is Social Media a Fad?

I am so tempted to say yes... but the right answer is I don't know (may be it's not a fad but a transition phase to something revolutionary). Also it's not fair to put facebook and blogging under the same umbrella. Social media needs more classifications not that damn cognitive fluency.
