Green Purchasing Manifesto

From Good Guide .. (more on this later, personally "not tested on animals" takes precedence over green):

"
Ladies and gentlemen, please lend me your ears. Now I hope you’re all listening, especially those in the rear.

The topic of the song that I’m about to sing, is very interesting - it’s green purchasing.
Green products are not hard to find, you can spot them from afar even if you’re blind.
Avoid the false claims, fairytales and fables, by including in your contracts, relevant eco-labels.
If you want computers, put a bid out on the street, and be absolutely sure that it includes EPEAT.
For electronics and appliances, like washers and dryers, make sure to require ENERGY STAR from suppliers.
Tell your friends and family, make them learn more about electricity.
Now all this stuff is not so funny, because when you save electricity, you save money!
For cleaning products to clean up after meals, be sure to spec out EcoLogo and Green Seal
A good way to buy, and this is a fact, is to participate in cooperative contracts.
This isn’t a joke, you can avoid going broke, because when you purchase in a group, you save a lot of loot!
Once you buy green, stay a smooth operator…figure out the benefits using a calculator.
Many exist to determine your savings. Show these to your boss and he will be raving!
I really appreciate all your attention. There’s one last thing that I’d like to mention.
I’d like to remind you that each purchase is a vote, and you’re all in the position to give the next generation hope.
Hope for a future that’s brighter and cleaner, if you use these tools to make your purchases greener.
That’s about all that I have to say. Thank you very much and have a nice day!"
