I will not find a better place to feed my obsession with memories. In search of memory is documentary based on life of Noble laureate and neuroscientist Eric Kandel. Here's a simplified explanation on the difference between short and long term memories.
"Short term memories, are formed when an increased number of molecular neurotransmitters are released at a synapse, sending a stronger signal from one neuron to the next. Long term memories, he found, are formed when the neurotransmitters synthesize new proteins that transform the shape of the synapse, creating a more permanent change in the neurons' connection."
Too bad I have to wait it the documentary comes out on DVD.
