Nurture Shock : New Thinking About Children by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. I don't have kids, so why did I read this book? Because I was a kid once and everyone I know was a kid once and lot of who we are and who we become depends on how we were nurtured.
It's fantastic book, with neuroscience sprinkled all over the place. Each chapter has a Gladwellian take on the issues we assume we know and so adamantly think its self evidence. If we are open to new ideas and consciously know the limits of our "self evidence" then we should read this book. It's a must read for every parent.
