God is Back - John Micklethwait

I never got a chance to read John Micklethwait's book God Is Back: How the Global Revival of Faith Is Changing the World but I couldn't stop thinking about this book while reading this other book on China. In a fast paced growing economy, one can only think about running that hedonic treadmill, completely devoid of self-relfection. God perfectly fits into the vacuum created by the lack of self-relfection. It's paradoxically that with GPD,  Carlson curves and Moore's law, there are other things including religious affiliation exponential raises as well. Seems like Samuel Huntington's theory indeed has some truth to it.
“The great forces of modernity – technology and democracy, choice and freedom – are all strengthening religion rather than undermining it”.
